Jay-Z came out of his early retirement in 2005 for the I Declare War concert in
New York City. The prolific show featured a parade of superstar guests. These would
include Diddy, T.I., and Kanye west, and in a movement to make peace with fellow rapper,
Nas. Jay-Z announced the end of his retirement for good when Kingdom Come dropped in
stores in late 2006. Almost a year later, Jay-Z made his mark with yet another album,
American Gangster (2007), this album inspired by the film of the same name that would
soon hit theaters. Nearly two years later he released a third album in the Blueprint
series, The Blueprint 3. This hit album would make its entrance with the single
"D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)," the album boasted production work from Kanye West and
Timbaland, plus held several guest features for West, Rihanna, Young Jeezy, and Alicia Keys.
It is only a matter of time before we see another epic movement from the “Roc.”
Jay-Z has undoubtedly left his mark on an era, and written his name in the legacy of hip-hop.
